With long-awaited summer finally here, Gray & Nameless decided to do something extra special to celebrate.”Gray, are you thinking what I’m thinking?” “I’ll bet I am, Nameless…” “CAMPING!!!” So they loaded up the car and hit the road.
After a long relaxing drive, Gray & Nameless arrived at the campground. Judging by the number of tents, they weren’t the only ones who enjoyed camping!
They checked in with a nice lady who told them where their bungalow was, and where they could join others for blueberry pancakes in the morning! But most important…
…she told them where to find the restroom, which was badly needed after the long drive!
Gray & Nameless were assigned their very own mini-mailbox, if they wanted send postcards and letters to friends.
There was even a playground!
Finally, it was time for a well-earned nap. Gray & Nameless made their way to the bungalow, and met their nice bunkmates. They were happy to sleep in the top bunk — they’d never slept in a bed so high!
When they awoke, they were invited by their bunkmates to join them for a cookout. “Why, we’d love to. We brought lots of treats to share!”
Gray & Nameless and their bunkmates barbecued & ate s’mores & laughed & told scary stories late into the night. They even made plans to go hiking together the next day.
Gray & Nameless woke up surprisingly early the next morning. “I have an idea, Nameless. Let’s go get some fresh breakfast burritos for our bunkmates!”
But when they returned to their campsite, they were crushed: Not only had their bunkmates left without saying goodbye, they also left a pile of litter!
Gray & Nameless spent the morning carrying all that litter to the trash bin. When they were finished, they noticed a second bin — one with a mysterious sign on it.
“I know how we can ‘salvage’ the rest of this day, Gray. Let’s go to the beach!” And so they headed off to one of their favorite places on earth.
They could not have been more excited or delighted when they saw the ocean. They even played their favorite game: Tide Chaser!
After a full day of fresh air, sunshine, and playing on the beach, Gray & Nameless were ready to head back and enjoy their final night of camping.
But on the way home, they stumbled upon a most unsettling sight. “Look, Nameless. Someone littered in this beautiful creek! Let’s clean it up, before it gets dark.”
This time, they knew exactly what to do with that can: RECYCLE IT!
he next morning as they were about to leave, Gray & Nameless paused to appreciate the wonder & serenity of their surroundings. And they made a promise to each other: “When we get home, we’re going to do whatever we can to protect the environment & preserve the natural beauty of our planet.”
The first thing they did back home was ask their friendly Waste Collector, Jose, if he had any advice on how to minimize needless waste. “I’m not the Waste Collector, I’m The Compost Man! Have you pups heard of ‘Composting’?”
Thanks to Jose, Gray & Nameless learned to put their food scraps and other items in a in a separate bin for composting. They also learned that compost is used as a fertilizer, a landfill cover, and lots of other things!
Of course they remembered from their camping trip where recyclable cans go!
They repaired their leaky faucet so that they wouldn’t waste water…
“Organically grown, local produce is better for us and the environment, Gray.” “Not only that, Nameless, it’s the most delicious produce in the world!”
Gray & Nameless even decided to walk or take public transportation whenever possible, rather than drive, to minimize their “carbon footprint.”
And at night, Gray & Nameless now sleep better than ever… on 100% organic fair-trade cotton sheets.
